Responsibilities

The GE Vernova Solar and Storage Solutions business is expanding, adding new customers, exploring new geographies, and developing new technology. The Senior Customer Project Engineer – Energy Storage will support projects executed under EPC or EEP contract frameworks.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

The Senior Energy Storage Customer Project Engineer manages all aspects of energy storage product and system design for assigned projects, including:

  1. Leading and coordinating all technical aspects of energy storage projects, such as developing single line diagrams, schematics, site layouts, relay protection, control requirements, and equipment layouts. Responsibilities also include schedule development, sourcing support, design review planning, quality assurance, and contractor management.
  2. Providing oversight and review of proposal/bid deliverables, including estimating design man-hours and materials, conceptual engineering, BOM, and technical specifications, as well as vendor quotation evaluations.
  3. Directing engineers and designers, writing equipment specifications, requesting and evaluating vendor quotations, and assessing equipment such as storage containers, inverters, control systems, transformers, cables, and protection systems.
  4. Serving as the technical point of contact for customers and project managers.
  5. Interfacing with customers and team members during final commissioning.
  6. Coordinating with sourcing and project teams to meet project specifications, budgets, and schedules, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
  7. Defining processes, performing root cause analysis, implementing corrective actions, and supporting quality initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferably BSEE).
  2. Extensive experience with industrial or utility LV, HV, EHV substations, or energy storage project design, or an MSEE with relevant power engineering experience.
  3. Knowledge of design calculations such as battery sizing, DC system components, transformer selection, protection, and grounding.
  4. Strong communication skills, team orientation, creativity, leadership, and accountability.
  5. Willingness and ability to travel up to 20%, domestically and internationally.

Desired Characteristics

  1. Familiarity with standards like G99, CENELEC, IEEE, IEC, and experience with standards compliance.
  2. Chartered Engineer registration preferred.
  3. Experience with field testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and power equipment operation.
  4. Ability to develop standards and structured programs.
  5. Strong customer presence and project management experience.
