Solar PV Design Engineer

Exciting opportunity for an experienced Solar PV Design Engineer to join a leading Solar PV Developer. Specialising in the development of large-scale, grid-connected solar farms, you will be instrumental in their growth within the UK market.

Your primary responsibility will be to assist with the design of projects from initial conception to full planning submission.

Responsibilities include:
  • Designing and providing budgetary pricing for utility-scale Solar PV projects, typically in the 20+MW range.
  • Identifying new leads using GIS, and managing the progression with the DNO and Land team until projects become active.
  • Conducting initial yield assessments of potential solar sites.
  • Providing technical and design support throughout project development.
  • Completing formal grid connection applications.
  • Engaging with DNOs post-acceptance to ensure project progress and compliance.
  • Reviewing new equipment and implementing design improvements with the latest technology.
Skills and experience required:
  • Strong communication skills and a structured working approach.
  • At least 2 years of experience in utility-scale solar farm development, design, and construction.
  • Experience designing multi-megawatt Solar PV installations using AutoCAD, PVSyst, and PVCase.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Excel modeling.
  • Understanding of how design choices impact project profitability.
  • Experience working with DNOs.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Renewable Energy, Engineering, or related field.
