Job summary

SERT is seeking a skilled Solar Electrician to join its growing renewables team in the UK. You will carry out electrical installations for Solar PV systems across domestic and commercial projects, and you will be involved in testing, commissioning, fault finding and certification.

The role requires experience with Solar PV installations, relevant electrical qualifications, and full UK driving licence. You will work with installation teams to deliver high standards of safety and performance.

Qualifications

• Must hold the relevant electrical qualifications and experience.
• NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent is required.
• AM2 assessment and 18th Edition wiring regs are essential.
• 2391 or equivalent for inspection & testing.
• Gold ECS/JIB card or equivalent graded qualification.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out electrical installations for Solar PV systems on domestic and commercial sites.
• Installing and connecting inverters, batteries, AC/DC cabling, distribution boards and equipment.
• Testing, inspecting and commissioning completed installations.
• Carrying out fault finding, diagnostics and remedial works.
• Ensuring installations comply with wiring regulations and standards.
• Completing electrical certification and documentation.
• Collaborating with roofers, project managers and subcontractors.
• Conducting site surveys and ensuring high-quality, safe work.

Solar Electrician

Salary: £45,000 - £60,000 per annum

Are you an experienced Electrician with a strong background in Solar PV installations and a range of electrical qualifications?

We are looking for a skilled Solar Electrician to join a growing renewables team, carrying out electrical installation, testing, commissioning and maintenance work across Solar PV projects.

The Role

• Carrying out electrical installations for Solar PV systems across domestic and commercial projects.
• Installing and connecting inverters, batteries, AC/DC cabling, distribution boards and associated equipment.
• Testing, inspecting and commissioning completed installations.
• Carrying out fault finding, diagnostics and remedial works.
• Ensuring all installations comply with current wiring regulations and industry standards.
• Completing electrical certification and installation documentation.
• Working alongside roofers, installation teams, project managers and other subcontractors.
• Conducting site surveys and ensuring installations are completed safely and to a high standard.
• Supporting quality assurance and resolving technical issues on site.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

Candidates should hold the relevant electrical qualifications and experience, including:

• NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent.
• AM2 assessment.
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
• Initial Verification and Periodic Inspection & Testing (2391 or equivalent).
• Gold ECS/JIB card or relevant industry-recognised electrical grading.
• Proven experience as a qualified Electrician.
• Previous experience working on Solar PV installations.
• Full UK driving licence.

Desirable Qualifications

• Solar PV installation qualification (such as Level 3 Award in the Installation of Small Scale Solar PV Systems).
• Battery storage installation experience or qualifications.
• Experience with MCS-compliant installations.
• Experience with NICEIC or NAPIT requirements.
• Three-phase electrical experience.
• EV charger installation experience.
