Job summary

PT Renewables is seeking a Design Manager to lead the solar PV design function for our commercial portfolio in Leicester. You will coordinate design output from concept through to delivery, ensuring rigorous, buildable designs that meet grid requirements and regulatory standards.

You’ll work closely with operations and project delivery, maintain design standards, review detailed designs in Revit and IFC workflows, and support handover from design to construction.

Qualifications

• Proven design management experience on complex projects.
• Strong solar PV design experience, ideally commercial/industrial.
• Proficiency in Revit and IFC workflows.
• Ability to manage design across multiple concurrent projects.
• Knowledge of relevant standards and regulatory frameworks.

Design Manager | Permanent | Leicester - Hybrid | Up to £65,000

Ready to be the technical authority for Solar Design Projects?

We're working with a well-established renewable energy business with over 20 years' experience delivering commercial solar PV installations across the UK.

Their project pipeline keeps growing, and they now need a Design Manager to take ownership of design quality and coordination across their entire commercial solar portfolio.

The Role

You’ll lead the design function, coordinating solar PV design output from concept right through to delivery.

Working closely with operations and project delivery, you’ll set and maintain the technical standard for design across the business - ensuring what leaves the design team is rigorous, buildable and fully compliant.

Your day-to-day will include:

• Overseeing and coordinating design output across multiple concurrent commercial solar PV projects.
• Producing and reviewing detailed designs using Revit and IFC-based workflows.
• Ensuring all designs meet relevant standards, grid requirements and regulatory frameworks - with compliance built into the process, not bolted on at the end.
• Maintaining and developing design standards, processes and documentation - single-line diagrams, equipment schedules, string layouts, shading analysis and yield assessments.
• Working closely with project and delivery teams for a smooth handover from design to construction.
• Supporting technical queries, design reviews and value engineering across the portfolio.

About you

You're a technically accomplished solar PV designer with a background in construction and a track record of managing design across complex commercial projects.

• Proven design experience within the construction industry.
• Strong solar PV design experience, ideally at commercial and industrial scale.
• Genuine proficiency in Revit and IFC workflows
• The ability to manage design across multiple concurrent projects without losing technical rigour.
• Thorough working knowledge of relevant standards, and the confidence to apply and enforce them meaningfully.
