Job description

Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 per annum depending on experience
Role type: Permanent
Location: Kent, UK, Hybrid remote
Reporting to: Head of Sales & Business Development

A full driving licence is required for this role.

The Role

We are seeking a passionate and technically skilled Solar Designer to lead our design, sales, and installation initiatives. You will manage the end-to-end design process, including site surveys, system design, and recommending optimal products and methods. Your expertise will support our growth and help us deliver sustainable energy solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Design and integrate solar products, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Work with architectural drawings and manufacturer tools for framing system design.
  • Provide technical support to sales and project teams.
  • Perform electrical calculations and liaise with manufacturers.
  • Use data to accurately size systems and batteries.
  • Monitor system performance and coordinate with manufacturers for fixes.
  • Manage DNO submissions and grid compliance procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to MCS standards and regulations.
  • Create system layouts using solar design software and CAD tools.
  • Engage with customers and update CRM systems.
Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of renewable energy products and systems.
  • Familiarity with roof structures and mounting systems.
  • Ability to interpret architectural drawings and use CAD software.
  • Electrical principles knowledge, including cable sizing and protections.
  • Analytical skills for data analysis and system optimization.
  • Knowledge of compliance standards such as MCS, G99, G100.
