Job description

We have an exciting and rewarding opportunity for you to take your software engineering career to the next level.

As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Commercial & Investment Bank - Payments Technology Space, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver payments capabilities to Global markets. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas in support of the firm's business objectives.

Job responsibilities
  1. Execute creative software solutions, design, develop, and troubleshoot technically, thinking beyond routine approaches to build solutions or analyze problems.
  2. Develop secure, high-quality production code, review, and debug code written by others.
  3. Identify opportunities to automate or eliminate recurring issues to improve operational stability of software applications and systems.
  4. Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectural designs, technical credentials, and their applicability within existing systems.
  5. Contribute to a team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Formal experience with Software Engineering concepts and practical application.
  • Extensive core Java (version 17 or higher) development experience with Spring Boot or similar frameworks.
  • Experience in developing cloud-native applications (12-factor app) with implementation of RESTful microservices, containers, and resilient, scalable platforms.
  • Experience in Test Driven Development using JUnit, Mockito, or similar tools.
  • Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or related container platforms.
  • Experience with cloud-native software deployment, ideally on AWS or Kubernetes.
  • Experience with message bus technologies such as Kafka or AMPS.
  • Experience developing open-source or internal libraries integrated into applications by other teams.
  • Experience working on high-throughput, mission-critical, high-performance STP platforms.
  • Experience with two or more database technologies like Oracle, Cassandra, or in-memory databases/caches.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Experience in a DevOps-focused environment with an advanced understanding of DevOps principles.
  • Prior experience with Settlement, Clearing, or Post Trade Processing platforms is a plus.
  • Previous experience in the financial industry is preferred.
