Job summary

Guidant Global is seeking a Software Testing Engineer in Stevenage to join a defence-focused technology team. You will plan, execute and report on software testing activities for complex simulation software used in mission-critical environments.

You will work with developers in an Agile environment, develop test plans, scripts and reports, and support CI/CD pipelines and release activities. This is a 12-month onsite contract offering £65 per hour Inside IR35.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in Software Testing or QA.
• Experience creating tests, test plans and test scripts.
• Strong test automation experience.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tooling.
• Familiar with GitLab and Jira in an Agile environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain test plans, procedures and cases.
• Execute functional, integration, regression and qualification testing.
• Investigate defects and perform root cause analysis.
• Analyse logs and test data to identify issues and support resolution.
• Support continuous testing throughout the SDLC.
• Produce detailed test reports and progress updates.
• Assist release and certification activities.
• Collaborate with developers and project teams in Agile.
• Contribute to improving testing processes and methodologies.

Software Testing Engineer

£65 per hour | Inside IR35 | 12-Month Contract | Full-Time Onsite | Stevenage

Our client is a leading engineering and technology organisation operating at the forefront of defence and advanced technology programmes. They are seeking an experienced Software Testing Engineer to join a highly skilled team responsible for the testing, validation and release of complex simulation software used within mission-critical environments. The Role

As a Software Testing Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, executing and reporting on software testing activities, ensuring software releases meet functional, performance and quality requirements. Working closely with software developers, project leads and stakeholders, you will play a key role in proving software functionality, investigating defects and supporting successful software releases.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain software test plans, test procedures and test cases
• Execute functional, integration, regression and qualification testing
• Perform software defect investigation and root cause analysis
• Analyse software logs and test data to identify issues and support resolution
• Support continuous testing throughout the software development lifecycle
• Produce detailed test reports and provide regular progress updates

Essential Skills & Experience

• Proven experience within Software Testing, Test Engineering or Quality Assurance
• Experience creating and executing test plans, test cases and test scripts

• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines
• Experience using tools such as GitLab, Jira and scripting technologies
• Strong defect management and troubleshooting skills
