Job Title: Software Tester

Salary: up to £34,500

Role Description:

With a rapid expansion of our development team comes a greater need to ensure that the products we release are great quality and answer our customers’ needs.

We are looking for a keen person with an eye for detail who shares our passion for systems and is motivated to ensure that customers are using the perfect product for delivery of excellent financial management, to realise the opportunities this can bring to their Multi Academy Trust and the communities they serve.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop features and define acceptance criteria
  • Follow the progress of the PRs (pull requests) and address issues during sprints.
  • Lead/facilitate squad rituals and meetings.
  • Lead quarterly squad OKR agreement.
  • Create and execute test plans within product backlog software.
  • Review new features from developers to ensure that they meet the requirements specified, have no adverse side effects and deliver great customer experience.
  • Provide full end-to-end testing of proposed releases to ensure that no issues have been introduced by new features.
  • Assist in managing the work plan for the development team and ensuring that release processes are being followed.
  • Groom and prioritise the squad backlog

Skills, experience, and attributes:

Essential

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good knowledge of complex salary calculations including national insurance, pensions, and other deductions
  • An keen eye for detail
  • Able to communicate issues clearly and interact with developers on the best solution
  • Able to work in an unpredictable environment

Desirable

  • An accounting or payroll qualification
  • Experience of working in a school, finance or payroll setting
  • Experience of working in a software house setting
  • Experience of working with SQL or Postman
