Job description

Job title: Software Test Engineer

Location: Warton. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements. Please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: £47,683+ depending on skills and experience.

What you'll be doing:
  1. Working with application Subject Matter Experts as well as Requirements, Design, Development and Manual Test teams (as necessary) to test throughout the SDLC from design all the way through to maintenance.
  2. Designing, developing, and maintaining scripts that execute new functionality and also regression test scenarios.
  3. Executing test scripts and working closely with Development teams to manage software builds.
  4. Investigating failures and anomalies reported by the scripts where the behaviour of the application under test deviates from the expected behaviour as defined in the test scenarios. Analysing the reported anomalies and creating defect reports as necessary.
  5. Monitoring the progress of defects reported by manual and automated regression test scripts and re-running the required tests/test sections when fixes have been deployed.
Your skills and experiences:

Essential:
  • Experience in application testing.
  • Manual software testing of applications.
  • Automated software testing of applications.
  • Ability to interpret software design documentation.
  • Experience with large multi-tier applications (e.g. PLM systems).
Desirable:
  • Experience using the Atlassian suite of software.
  • Test automation tool - Microfocus UFT one.
  • Selenium.

The Engineering Systems Competency Centre:

Join BAE Systems Air Sector Engineering Systems Competency Centre (ESCC). The ESCC provides IT and Software support for a large number of in-house developed and COTS toolsets across various programmes within BAE Systems. The ESCC works with a variety of customers from various disciplines within the Engineering community.
