Software Systems Developer (with Embedded experience)

We are seeking a skilled Software Systems Developer with embedded systems experience to join our team. The role involves designing, developing, and supporting embedded hardware and systems.

Location: St. Leonards on Sea, East Sussex

Job Type: Full-Time

Salary: Dependent on experience

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop analogue and digital circuits using microprocessors and peripherals.
  • Use PCB design and circuit simulation tools for hardware development and testing.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards (UKCA, EU, etc.).
  • Develop low-level microprocessor software in C (e.g., PIC microcontrollers).
  • Maintain communication networks including PSTN, TCP/IP, and 4/5G.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for hardware and software integration.
Hardware Design
  • Design analogue & digital circuits, including discrete semiconductors and op-amps.
  • Work with microprocessors, peripherals, and serial buses like SPI, I2C.
  • Utilize circuit simulation tools (e.g., SPICE) and Gerber viewers.
Compliance & Standards
  • Understand industry regulations and compliance processes.
  • Apply relevant standards; railway experience is a plus.
Embedded Software Development
  • Proficient in low-level C programming for microcontrollers.
  • Experience with MPLABX or similar IDEs.
Networking
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for remote connectivity.
  • Set up and maintain communication systems over PSTN, TCP/IP, and mobile networks.
Desirable Skills
  • High-voltage design experience (e.g., railway traction systems).
  • DC-DC converter design and transformer selection.
  • Experience with network peripherals like 4G/5G modems, WiFi modules, LoRaWAN.
Legacy System Support
  • Experience with System-on-Module platforms (Raspberry Pi, WinCE).
  • Application development in C#/.NET for device tools and remote diagnostics.
  • Use of Visual Studio or LabWindows CVI.
