Howells Solicitors is seeking a motivated IT professional to maintain and build high-quality software solutions, develop new systems, and support internal IT users across the business. This full-time, office-based role in Cardiff offers real responsibility and the chance to make a genuine impact while working alongside experienced developers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in IT or Computer Science (or equivalent experience).
• Experience providing first and second line support is preferable.
• Technical understanding of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office and Office 365.
• Willingness to diagnose problems and install various software packages.
• Practical experience with a relevant programming language and relational databases.
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Good written and verbal communication at all levels.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, configure, and customise systems (incl. CMS) to meet evolving business needs.
• Build and maintain workflows, forms, reports, APIs, scripts, and integrations
• Write clean, efficient code and contribute innovative solutions
• Gather requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions
• Test, deploy, document, and support system changes, enhancements, and upgrades
• Conduct code reviews, testing, and QA for stability, performance, and security
• Collaborate with IT, operations and business users on system improvements
• Liaise with vendors for complex configurations and integrations
• Provide helpdesk support for software, systems and related issues
• Diagnose, resolve and escalate system incidents promptly
• Maintain documentation for system maintenance and migrations
• Prepare reports on system performance and usage
• Assist with migrations, integrations and upgrades with minimal disruption
• Maintain confidentiality and support ad-hoc management duties
