Job summary

Hamilton Barnes partners with a leading quantitative trading firm to hire a hands-on security engineer. You will build tools and controls protecting high-performance systems at scale.

This role emphasizes software engineering excellence over traditional penetration testing, with development mainly in Golang and Python scripting for automation.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong computer science fundamentals.
• Proficiency in at least one statically typed programming language.
• A clear interest in security or experience solving security-focused engineering problems.
• Understanding of systems, infrastructure and how technology is built.
• Ability to write clean, reliable and maintainable code.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with other engineers.

Compensation: Up to £200,000 (Depending on experience)

Do you want to join one of the world's most technologically advanced quantitative trading firms, where you'll build security solutions protecting complex, high-performance systems operating at a global scale.

This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who can write high-quality software, understands how systems and infrastructure work, and wants to build tools and controls that protect a complex, large-scale technology environment.

We are not looking for a traditional cyber-security analyst, or someone focused primarily on penetration testing. The ideal candidate will have strong computer science fundamentals and approach security challenges as a software engineer.

What You'll Be Doing

• Design and develop internal security tools and infrastructure
• Work with engineering teams to identify security weaknesses and build practical solutions
• Improve threat detection and security monitoring capabilities
• Contribute across requirements gathering, architecture, prototyping and development
• Support a broad range of security and compliance-related projects
• Help improve authentication, authorisation and other core security systems

What We're Looking For

Development is primarily in Golang, although previous Go experience is not required. Python is also used for scripting.
