Software Project Manager

Location: Hybrid working in Bristol

Salary: Up to £72,000 per annum + 21% Bonus

A market-leading global company within the defence sector is seeking an experienced Software Project Manager with a passion for innovative software to join their team in Bristol. You will be delivering cutting-edge software solutions for middleware and embedded systems within aerospace electronics and weapons systems.

This position requires security clearance; all candidates must be British Citizens and have resided in the UK for the last 5 years. Previous or current SC and DV clearance is highly advantageous.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Project manage the middleware software layer design of integrated systems.
2. Deliver leading weapon systems software design projects.
3. Be involved hands-on with technical design aspects.
4. Ensure software is reliable, safe, secure, and meets all requirements.
5. Manage, prioritize, and deliver multiple projects within agreed parameters and timelines.
6. Handle work package management, task allocation, progress tracking, reporting, bid estimation, and supplier management.
7. Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, external clients, and third-party suppliers.

Experience & Knowledge

1. Previous project management experience with integrated software systems.
2. Proven experience engaging stakeholders and managing clients within complex software delivery projects.
3. Technical leadership combined with project management skills to resolve complex software issues.
4. Strong technical background and understanding of software design and development, with a passion for software to assist in designing, implementing, and integrating solutions.
5. Certifications such as Prince2, Agile, SDLC, or similar are beneficial.
