Job description

This is a fantastic leadership (Software Project Lead) opportunity, which involves leading a team to deliver embedded software on time, on cost and on quality!

Salary: Circa £72,000 depending on experience

Dynamic (hybrid) working: typically 4 to 5 days per week on-site, due to workload classification

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship.

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity:

The Real Time Seeker Software team is tasked with supplying software into advanced seeker equipment (a sub-component of a missile), often developing on state of the art processing platforms.

Interacting with a wider Seeker team (including Systems, Hardware and Firmware Teams), this role presents the opportunity to deliver complex software solutions, as part of a deliverable product, deployed into missile programmes. In a collaborative and close-knit culture, we support each other to search for better!

What we're looking for from you:

A leader in software (experienced or aspiring) focussed on team leadership and delivering software. We are looking for a Software Project Lead (SPL) who can build high-performing teams and create strong working relations with the multidiscipline project environments. These project environments include financial & budget control, system design, electronic design, safety, security & quality.

  • Proven ability to technical manage a team of software developers (typically 5 to 10 engineers)

  • A proven record of managing a software budget and have the confidence to control change to the requirements and costs, against an agreed estimate/budget

  • Understanding of UML and high level languages such as C and C++

  • Project management skills to ensure good planning, delivery and cost control of software

  • A good understanding of software and the software development lifecycle including configuration management tools and techniques, to be able to provide effective oversight.

  • The ability to understand requirements and available design solutions so that you can produce accurate and cost effective estimates of work to be undertaken
