UK Government is seeking an experienced Software Engineer / DevOps / Platform Engineer to support a major data transformation programme. This remote role is UK-based and requires active SC or NPPV3 clearance.

You will design, build and operate scalable Python applications, data pipelines with Elasticsearch and Numaflow, and cloud services in Microsoft Azure, with CI/CD and security at the core.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on Python development, including APIs, automation and data processing.
• Experience with Elasticsearch data indexing, querying, integration and optimisation.
• Experience with Numaflow or similar for real-time data processing pipelines.
• Experience developing, deploying and supporting cloud-based solutions on Microsoft Azure.
• Understanding of CI/CD, infrastructure automation and cloud-native engineering.
• Active SC or NPPV3 clearance is required.

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Software Engineer / DevOps / Platform Engineer to support a major UK Government client on an exciting technology and data transformation programme.

This is a remote-working opportunity, suited to an engineer with strong Python development skills and experience working across cloud infrastructure, DevOps, data processing and modern platform technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable applications and platform services using Python.
• Build and optimise data processing pipelines, integrating technologies such as Elasticsearch and Numaflow.
• Develop, deploy and support cloud-based solutions within Microsoft Azure.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.
• Support the development of reliable, secure and scalable infrastructure.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Python: Strong hands-on development experience, including building applications, APIs, automation and data processing solutions.
• Elastic / Elasticsearch: Experience working with Elasticsearch, including data indexing, querying, integration and optimisation.
• Numaflow: Experience with Numaflow or similar technologies for building real-time, event-driven data processing pipelines.
• Microsoft Azure: Experience developing, deploying and supporting cloud-based solutions.
• DevOps / Platform Engineering: Understanding of CI/CD, infrastructure automation, deployment processes and cloud-native engineering.
• Security Clearance: Must hold active SC or NPPV3 clearance.

Desirable Experience

• Docker, Kubernetes and container orchestration.
• Infrastructure as Code, including Terraform.
• Event-driven architectures and streaming technologies.
• GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps or similar CI/CD tooling.
• Experience delivering solutions within Government, law enforcement or other secure environments.
