SPECTRUM IT is seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager in the United Kingdom to lead a team delivering cutting-edge software solutions. You’ll shape engineering practices, guide technical direction, and ensure successful delivery from concept to release.

You’ll mentor engineers, set standards for embedded and high-performance software, collaborate across disciplines, and engage with customers to translate requirements into actionable plans, while promoting career development.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading software engineering teams.
• Extensive embedded software development experience for performance-critical or high-throughput applications.
• Strong track record in designing, developing, and validating embedded or high-performance computing software.
• Ability to translate complex technical ideas into clear development plans and deliverable outcomes.
• Experience with CI/CD practices, software planning tools, and agile development workflows.
• A degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent commercial experience.
• Understanding of wireless communications principles, or the enthusiasm and aptitude to develop expertise in this area.

Responsibilities

• Leading, mentoring and developing a team of software engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
• Defining and evolving software engineering standards, development practices, and design approaches to support continuous improvement.
• Providing technical leadership throughout the software development lifecycle, from initial architecture and design through to implementation, verification, and release.
• Working alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver key project milestones on time and to a high standard.
• Overseeing the implementation and optimisation of wireless communication software across a range of heterogeneous computing platforms.
• Acting as a technical point of contact for customers, providing project updates, gathering requirements, and resolving technical challenges.
• Supporting career development, coaching and knowledge sharing to help engineers reach their full potential.
