Job description

Reporting to the Head of Software Delivery, the Engineering Manager is responsible for technical leadership of their Feature Delivery team and oversight of all software output. This role requires strong engineering skills, interpersonal skills, stakeholder relationship building, and a dedication to high-quality results.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a team of 3-6 members, fostering team cohesion and culture
• Mentor team members technically and professionally
• Explain concepts like code patterns, architecture, and best practices
• Lead code review processes, suggest improvements, and identify issues
• Drive agile ceremonies, maintain backlogs, and ensure timely delivery
• Present progress in Town Hall updates
• Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to align priorities
• Coordinate with other managers for consistent practices
• Write high-quality, secure, tested, documented code using our stack

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Experience & Qualifications:

• Leadership experience in engineering or 3-5 years in a senior role
• Proven software delivery success

Planning & Time Management:

• Collaborate across teams to understand requirements and priorities
• Manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and handle risks
• Delegate work effectively and contribute to team goals
• Conduct 1:1s, provide feedback, and support career development

Team Collaboration:

• Foster effective cross-team collaboration
• Build relationships with stakeholders and customers
• Present work and represent the team externally

Technical Leadership & Practices:

• Guide architecture and implementation of scalable systems
• Promote best practices like secure coding, testing, CI/CD
• Define coding standards and documentation norms

Engineering Skills:

• Requirements capturing and specification writing
• Strength in Web UI / .NET / SQL Server / Windows stack, ASP.NET / Razor / Blazor
• Knowledge of data science, AI, ML, LLM
• Stay updated with technology trends

Working with Management:

• Align team goals with department objectives
• Update management regularly
• Navigate priorities and improve delivery metrics

Product Awareness & Customer Interaction:

• Understand AutoRek’s benefits and market position

• Communicate technical matters clearly
