Software Engineering Manager

About this role

Capital One is looking for a Software Engineering Manager to join us in our Nottingham office. You will have previous experience of leading a Software Engineering team and be passionate about people and technical leadership.

What you’ll do

1. Lead and nurture your team: Coach and develop engineers, positively impacting their careers and the business.
2. Provide technical guidance: Stay close to your team’s work, set high engineering standards, understand technical risks, and influence architectural decisions.
3. Set context and culture: Ensure your team understands the purpose behind their work and foster a positive culture.
4. Manage delivery: Collaborate with Product Owners and Change Delivery Leads to shape roadmaps and deliver high-quality software in a complex regulatory environment.
5. Oversee applications: Manage business applications, ensuring they are well-maintained and compliant.
6. Represent the business: Advocate for the business interests and improve the environment beyond your immediate team.

Work location and flexibility
