Job description

Location: Hybrid – A blend of home working and office based, 60/40 split (Bridgehead, Hessle)

Hours: 8.30am – 5.00pm, Monday to Friday (37.5 hours per week)

Salary: Dependent on experience, plus bonus opportunity

Role Overview

The business supports public sector clients across the UK to make decisions about their services, estates and budgets through the delivery of market leading web applications and data visualisation tools, including SHAPE (Strategic Health Asset Planning and Evaluation).

To support growing client demands and an expanding product range, Parallel is looking to grow its developer team and take the business to the next level.

The Software Developer will work alongside the Lead Developer and the wider development team to deliver a series of software and data projects, to help modernise existing technology platforms and develop new products for new markets.

We are seeking a full stack Software Developer to play an integral part in the technical delivery of the company’s products. The successful candidate will have relevant commercial development experience, have great attention to detail and be a team player.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated workflows using Power Automate to streamline business processes.
  • Build responsive and user-friendly applications using Power Apps, integrating with Dataverse and other data sources.
  • Develop and publish interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications and solutions.
  • Develop backend services and APIs using .NET (C#), ensuring scalability, performance, and security.
  • Integrate front-end and back-end components using RESTful APIs and modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., Vue with TypeScript).
  • Model and manage data using Dataverse and SQL Server, including performance tuning and complex queries.
  • Write and maintain unit and integration tests for both front-end and back-end components to ensure code quality.
  • Participate in Agile development practices including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Ensure adherence to data protection, security standards, and confidentiality requirements in all development activities.

Essential

  • Experience creating automated workflows using Power Automate
  • Working with Dataverse for data modelling and integration
  • Experience in designing responsive, user-friendly UI with Power Apps.
  • Building and publishing dashboards and reports with Power BI
  • Proven professional experience in full stack development
  • Extensive experience building backend services using .NET (Preferred C#).
  • Deep understanding of Entity Framework and SQL Server, including complex queries and performance tuning.
  • Strong front-end development skills with modern JavaScript frameworks (Preferred Vuetypescript).
  • Significant experience of working with and developing on databases and RDBMS solutions (MS SQL preferred)
  • Experience working with RESTful APIs and integrating front-end and back-end components
  • Proficient in use of HTML5, CSS/SCSS, and modern JavaScript/TypeScript standards
  • Experience writing and maintaining unit tests for both Vue (e.g., using Vitest, Jest) and C# (.NET using xUnit, NUnit or MSTest)
  • Possess a positive approach to problem solving, with a process driven method to approach design solutions and a keen eye for user experience
  • Passion for technology, ongoing learning and client satisfaction
  • Awareness of the importance of security, data protection and confidentiality
  • Have good attention to detail and a high level of accuracy

Desirable

  • Experience in data manipulation and analysis
  • Experience of geo-mapping formats, approaches or tools
  • Experience of other non-sql databases
  • Experience of Cloud services/technologies (ideally MS Azure)
  • Experience of developing in Laravel/PHP
