- You’ll work from home some of the time, but you’ll also spend a significant amount of time working from an advertised office or hub minimum two days per week.
What you'll do
In your new role, you’ll engineer and maintain innovative, customer-centric, high-performance, secure, and robust solutions.
You’ll be working within a feature team and using your extensive experience to engineer software, scripts, and tools that are often complex, as well as liaising with other engineers, architects, and business analysts across the platform.
You’ll also be:
- Producing complex and critical software rapidly and of high quality which adds value to the business.
- Working in permanent teams responsible for the full lifecycle, from initial development, through enhancement and maintenance, to replacement or decommissioning.
- Collaborating to optimise our software engineering capability.
- Designing, producing, testing, and implementing our working code.
- Working across the lifecycle, from requirements analysis and design, through coding to testing, deployment, and operations.
The skills you'll need
You’ll need a background in software engineering, software design, architecture, and an understanding of how your area of expertise supports our customers.
You’ll also need:
- Extensive experience with development and testing tools, including bug tracking systems like Jira, and collaborative platforms such as Confluence wikis.
- Experience in primary skill set in UI development, with strong experience in modern JavaScript frameworks such as React.js or Angular, and a solid understanding of TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
- Experience in building responsive, accessible, and high-performance web applications that integrate with backend microservices and APIs.
- Familiarity with design systems, component libraries, and state management tools such as Redux, Context API to ensure consistency and scalability across the UI.
- Exposure to automated UI testing frameworks such as Jest, Cypress, or Playwright, and a strong focus on testability, code quality, and user experience.
- A background in solving highly complex, analytical, and numerical problems.
- Experience of implementing programming best practices, especially around scalability, automation, virtualization, optimization, availability, and performance.
