Software Engineer (Transmission Distribution), Stafford

This position is located in Stafford, United Kingdom, and requires an EU work permit.

Job Description:

We currently have a requirement for a Software Engineer within the Transmission & Distribution sector.

The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of the systems development lifecycle: specification, design, programming, testing, installation, and commissioning. Responsibilities include configuring multiple instances of existing solutions, developing new solutions based on client requirements, database configuration, coding, application engineering, hardware interfacing, system testing, and commissioning. The role may involve client visits, surveys, and potential overseas travel for training and partner integrations.

Essential Requirements:
  • Competency in PC management and electronic file handling
  • Good knowledge of databases
  • Understanding of SCADA/HMIs and control systems
  • Experience coding in C++, C#, Java, or VB
  • Ability to learn new products through manuals and online support
  • Research skills to evaluate product suitability
  • Ability to complete tasks according to plan and standards
  • Team player with drive, tenacity, and willingness to learn
  • Effective communication skills with colleagues and clients
  • Adherence to health and safety practices at work sites
Desirable Requirements:
  • Electrical engineering knowledge
  • Understanding of electrical principles (e.g., power calculations)
  • Knowledge of GE equipment or Copa-data Zenon SCADA
  • Experience with substation control systems
  • Valid driving license
