Full Time, 5 days in the Office

Location: Derby, Raynesway

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Software Engineer to join Rolls-Royce Submarines. This role offers the chance to work across all phases of the product lifecycle, tackling technical challenges involving digital, software, programmable hardware, electronics technologies, systems, and applications. What you will be doing
  • Follow a safety-critical development lifecycle to:
    • Develop software requirements and design
    • Develop and verify high-integrity code
    • Support host, target, and integration testing
    • Author and review design documentation
  • Liaise with FPGA, hardware, systems, and verification teams to meet customer expectations effectively.
  • Contribute to process and product quality improvements.
Who we’re looking for

We prioritize safety, integrity, and simplicity. The qualities we seek include:

  • Degree or equivalent in Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • Experience in designing and verifying high-integrity software
  • Ability to produce clear and accurate technical reports

Beneficial but not essential experience includes:

  • Languages: Ada, C++, C#, Python
  • Tools: IBM DOORS, Ansys SCADE, ReqTify, VectorCast, LabView, Azure DevOps, Git
  • Standards & Techniques: Real-time OS, PLC development, Agile Scrum, Safety-critical development standards (e.g., DO-178B/C)
