Overview
We are looking for Software Engineers to drive forward the Defence sector within Electrical and Embedded Systems. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to the client project that you support.
The Software Engineer will play a vital role in the software development lifecycle by ensuring that software solutions are developed in line with defined processes and industry standards to ensure the reliability, safety, and security of software products.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyse requirements, design, develop, test, and maintain software solutions for defence projects.
- Apply your expertise in one or more of the following programming languages: C++ and Java, to deliver high-quality software products.
- Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, system design, coding, testing, documentation, deployment, and maintenance.
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders, including clients, project managers, system engineers, and other software engineers, to ensure successful project delivery.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest software development methodologies, technologies, and best practices relevant to the defence industry.
- Take ownership of assigned tasks, meet project deadlines, and maintain a high level of quality and attention to detail.
- Adhere to established coding standards, software development processes, and security protocols.
Qualifications
- Degree in an applicableEngineering Discipline
Essential skills
- Proficiency in Java and C++
- Unit testing and broader software test experience
- Configuration management (Bitbucket, Artifactory) and JIRA task/change management
- Agile methodologies and adherence to SDPs
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams
- Self-starter mindset with ability to learn with minimal coaching
- Leadership skills for team and architect engagement
- Risk management and project reporting experience
- Linux target development and deployment skills
Desired skills
- Jenkins/Git Runners CI/CD build pipeline experience
- Linux infrastructure and scripting (Shell, Bash, Python)
- Awareness of automated testing
- Requirements management in DOORS or Polarion
- Git configuration management
- Software assurance and quality processes
