Job title

(Senior) Software Engineer

The role

We are seeking a curious, creative, and motivated individual who rises to the challenges of building an innovation-driven start-up. As we progress towards Series A funding, this is a unique opportunity to help define the future of surgery and shape our product. This role is available at Software Engineer and Senior Software Engineer levels, depending on experience.

As our (Senior) Software Engineer, you will contribute to improvements and upgrades of our surgical hyperspectral imaging system. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Suggesting and developing new product features and supporting their release in a regulated medical environment;
  • Designing, developing, and maintaining software components in C++ and Python;
  • Collaborating with other software engineers, imaging scientists, and regulatory and clinical experts to ensure scalable, efficient, and compliant software architecture;
  • Working across application areas including:
  1. Real-time, low-latency GPU processing and visualization of hyperspectral video streams;
  2. Server/cloud-based data management and analysis of surgical datasets;
  3. UI frameworks for surgical use;
  4. Continuous integration workflows and project planning tools;
  • Implementing cybersecurity best practices to secure patient health information.

Qualifications

Essential credentials:

  • Master’s Degree or higher in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or related fields;
  • Proficiency in C++ and Python;
  • Experience handling 2D images and developing Computer Vision pipelines;
  • Enthusiasm for working in a small, innovative software team.

Desirable credentials:

  • 2+ years industry experience;
  • Background in machine learning libraries and GPU processing;
  • Knowledge of regulated medical software development practices;
  • Understanding of cybersecurity best practices.

Hypervision Surgical Ltd is a spin-out from King’s College London, founded by clinicians, imaging, and AI experts. Our goal is to provide clinicians with advanced tissue analysis tools for better surgical outcomes.

We developed a hyperspectral imaging system that improves intraoperative guidance by providing diagnostic tissue information without toxic contrast agents, enhancing surgical precision and safety.
