Software Engineer | S2 | Corporate CIO

An exciting opportunity has been created for a Software Engineer within the Corporate Chief Information Office (CIO) function.

As part of Corporate Digital Channels, we are responsible for a variety of customer facing applications supporting our Corporate & Commercial customers. Our team create and maintain applications for the bank in various technologies using online applications (APIs, Microservices).

The difference you’ll make:

  • Providing technical analysis and coding skills in Java (Springboot) and Angular for all aspects of business change and on-going projects
  • Managing end-to-end from software design and development up to release to the customers, including deployments
  • Being involved in the design discussions in order to ensure the most appropriate solution and gain functional knowledge and experience in the Corporate domain
  • Understanding the wider stack of technologies used and help support developing software solutions adhering to the SDLC process
  • Liaising with Product Owners and Corporate Management teams within International & Transaction Banking business

What you’ll bring:

These are the essential requirements you need to be successful in this role:

  • Extensive experience of software engineering methodologies and processes
  • Proficiency in one of more programming languages such asJava, JavaScript (NodeJs, PolymerJs – particularly Finacle OB component, Angular)
  • Experience/knowledge with vendor-specific software – Finacle e-banking suite 11.x including DEH and FEBA batch, Finacle Core banking 11.x basics
  • Familiarity with database systems, and SQL for data storage, retrieval, and manipulation
  • Proficiency in using version control systems like Git for collaborative development and code management, and operating systems such as Azure, Windows Server platforms, RESTful APIs, or Linux
  • Experience of participating in planning for development sprints and releases

It would also be nice for you to have:

  • Degree in Computer Science or related field is desirable; or equivalent relevant work experience supported by professional certifications/licences
  • Proven experience in supervising the full spectrum of delivery activities on multiple development projects
  • Knowledge on the use of fact-finding techniques and diagnostic tools to identify problems
  • Experience with setup and monitoring batch solutions

What else you need to know:

This permanent role is based in Unity Place – Milton Keynes.

To support this, we offer site-based contracts with a hybrid working pattern and our expected level of attendance in an office is at least 12 days per month (pro-rata for part-time roles).

1st Stage – Technical Interview – this will a 30min technical interview with one of the team

2nd Stage – A one-hour formal interview where we will ask both technical and competency-based questions. This can be done virtually or face to face depending on your situation.
