Software Engineer (Java)

We are looking for a highly motivated, results-driven engineer to join our News Engineering team.

The London Stock Exchange Group is the exclusive provider of Reuters News to the financial community. Our News Platform aggregates content from Reuters and thousands of other news providers, enriching our content with metadata and analytics to help our customers find relevant news. The news we deliver informs investors, influences markets, and helps companies identify risks. We have a distributed team of engineers collaborating across various fields to deliver excellence for our customers.

As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing solutions for News systems in Java using Azure Cloud. You will work within a cross-functional squad of engineers, delivering changes using agile practices. You will need to resolve complex problems, coordinate with other engineers, and support project delivery, including assisting other software, DevOps, and quality engineers as needed.

Job Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable Java code based on User Stories
• Ensure software quality through unit testing, integration testing, and code reviews
• Implement automated release pipelines and deployment processes as per DevOps standards
• Work collaboratively in an agile team, adhering to standards
• Provide 3rd level support, including troubleshooting on production systems, with occasional on-call duties outside normal hours

Required Skills

• Over 2 years of object-oriented design and development in Java
• Over 2 years of experience with at least one scripting language, preferably Python
• Experience with continuous integration tools such as GIT, Jenkins, Terraform
• Experience developing software for cloud environments, preferably Azure
• Good verbal and written communication skills, with experience working in global teams
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
