At Nationwide Building Society, we continue to invest in and accelerate our lakehouse architecture as part of our enterprise-wide data platform team, which drives our data strategy.

Our hybrid working model combines in-office collaboration and home working, fostering problem-solving, learning, and connection. You will spend at least two days per week, or 40% of your time if part-time, at our Swindon, London, Northampton, or Bournemouth office. Further details will be provided upon hiring.

What you’ll be doing

You will manage data ingestion on enterprise-scale platforms and lead a team of engineers, handling diverse source system data feeds, ensuring quality, governance, and timely access for stakeholders.

As a senior engineer, you will collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to prioritize and estimate work, and support team members' skill development.

About you

• Experience delivering end-to-end data engineering solutions and managing data lifecycle on enterprise platforms.
• Operational support experience for large-scale data ingestion, supporting new demands, and providing 3rd line support for complex issues.
• Ability to identify process deficiencies and opportunities for improvement, with a focus on data governance and controls.
• Proficiency in creating and maintaining process documentation for transparency and understanding.
• Knowledge of data content, structure, and metadata, and ability to identify misalignments.
• Experience with technologies such as Databricks, dbt, Teradata, Bash, Python, Azure Data Factory, CI/CD pipelines, Data warehousing, GitHub in a production environment.
