Job summary

Qualifications

• 2+ years of commercial experience in test automation or software engineering.
• Experience with automation frameworks such as Cypress, Playwright, pytest.
• Experience building and maintaining automated tests across API, UI, integration and regression tests.
• Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience testing APIs with Postman or REST Assured.
• Experience participating in code reviews and writing maintainable code.
• Strong debugging, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration with developers.
• Experience with Docker or Kubernetes is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain automated testing frameworks covering APIs, UI, and component interactions.
• Build reliable automated test suites and integrate them into development and release pipelines.
• Work closely with developers to introduce testing earlier in the development process.
• Investigate test failures and provide clear technical feedback for resolution.
• Help improve test coverage, test data and testing environments.
• Review code and contribute to software design, testability and engineering standards.
• Develop tools and approaches that make testing more efficient for the team.
• Contribute to performance, load and security testing where required.

A fantastic opportunity for a Software Engineer in Test to join an established software company in Cambridge. Working closely with developers and product teams, you will build automated testing frameworks and tools that improve software quality and streamline releases. This role would suit someone who enjoys coding, solving complex technical problems and having a direct influence on how software is built and tested.

Location: Cambridge, hybrid with 2 days per week in the office

Requirements for Software Engineer in Test:

• 2+ years of commercial experience in test automation or software engineering with a strong automated testing focus
• Strong hands-on experience using automation frameworks such as Cypress, Playwright, pytest or similar
• Experience building and maintaining automated tests, with an understanding of API, UI, integration and regression testing
• Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines
• Experience testing APIs using Postman, REST Assured or equivalent tools
• Experience participating in code reviews, with an understanding of maintainable code and good software engineering practices
• Strong debugging, analytical and problem-solving skills
• Great communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with developers and wider engineering teams
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes or other containerised environments is beneficial
