As a Software Engineer II at JPMorgan Chase within the Technology Division, you are part of an agile team that works to enhance, design, and deliver the software components of the firm's state-of-the-art technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As an emerging member of a software engineering team, you execute software solutions through the design, development, and technical troubleshooting of multiple components within a technical product, application, or system, while gaining the skills and experience needed to grow within your role.

Job responsibilities

  • Execute standard software solutions, design, develop, and troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Write secure and high-quality code using at least one programming language with limited guidance.
  • Design, develop, code, and troubleshoot considering upstream and downstream systems and technical implications.
  • Utilize tools within the Software Development Life Cycle to enhance automation and value.
  • Apply technical troubleshooting skills to resolve basic complexity problems.
  • Analyze large, diverse data sets to identify issues and support decision-making for secure, stable application development.
  • Learn and apply system processes, methodologies, and skills for developing secure, stable code and systems.
  • Contribute to a team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and practical experience.
  • Hands-on experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
  • Experience coding in a modern programming language and querying databases in a large corporate environment.
  • Ability to code in one or more languages.
  • Experience across the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Exposure to agile methodologies like CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
  • Emerging knowledge of software applications and technical processes (e.g., cloud, AI, machine learning, mobile).

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Exposure to cloud technologies such as AWS.
  • Familiarity with modern front-end technologies like React.
  • Experience with Databricks and building workflows.
  • Knowledge of Python and Spark.
