Job Role: Software Engineer, Frontend

Role purpose

As a valued member of our engineering team, you will contribute to the development of our new web application, powered by a Headless CMS, using the latest frontend technologies. Working with a modern JavaScript stack, your primary focus will be on coding, testing, and enhancing the functionality of Travelex's and partner applications.

Being part of the Online team, you will work closely with engineers, designers, and the product team. While this is primarily an engineering role, we value developers with a keen eye for product development who can contribute to feature development at a product level before implementation.

Key accountabilities and decision ownership

1. Writing clean, well-tested, and maintainable code
2. Ensuring high performance and scalability of web applications
3. Thorough troubleshooting and debugging to diagnose issues
4. Keeping up to date with emerging technologies and trends
5. Identifying technical debt and areas for improvement
6. Contributing to discussions on product features with technical insights
7. Participating in code reviews and mentoring junior team members
8. Applying best practices in security, performance, and accessibility

Skills, knowledge, and experience

Must have:

• 3+ years of frontend development experience with responsive web applications
• Proficiency in TypeScript, React, and frameworks like NextJS
• Experience with state management libraries (Zustand, Redux, MobX, etc.)
• Experience working with GraphQL/REST APIs
• Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and Browser APIs
• Experience with testing tools such as Vitest, Jest, Playwright
• Understanding of CI/CD practices and deployment pipelines
• Proficiency with Git

Nice to have:

• Experience with design systems and component libraries
• Experience with Headless CMS platforms
• Development of white-label and internationalized applications
• Knowledge of responsive design and accessibility standards
• Experience with agile methodologies
• Understanding of web performance optimization techniques
