Job summary

Clear Street is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Front-End) to help build the Studio experience. You will lead the design and delivery of complex, user-facing features, drive system-design for front-end services, and set engineering standards across the Studio Core team.

You will mentor engineers, partner with product, design and back-end leads, and ensure reliability and high SLA. Strong React and TypeScript experience, plus familiarity with modern front-end tech stacks, is essential.

As a Senior Software Engineer (Front-End), you will help build our flagship Clear Street Studio, a modern prime brokerage experience. You will tackle non-trivial problems that force you to balance trade-offs while implementing clean and efficient solutions. You will raise our bar on delivering solutions that delight and offer the best experience for our customers, and you will push our operational standards to ensure we can offer and maintain a high SLA.

This role is deeply involved in engineering the next generation of our state-of-the-art Studio (portal) for a varied client base including hedge funds, traders, and portfolio managers. As a senior member of the team, you will set technical direction, mentor other engineers, and own significant parts of the platform end to end.

What You’ll Do

• Lead the design and delivery of complex, user-facing features and shared foundations for Clear Street Studio.
• Drive a system-design approach to building new front-end services, balancing trade-offs across scale, performance, and maintainability.
• Set and evolve engineering standards across the Studio Core team, including architecture, testing, tooling, and code quality.
• Mentor and grow other engineers through code review, pairing, and technical guidance.
• Partner with product, design, and back-end leads to shape roadmaps and turn ambiguous problems into clear technical plans.
• Own the operational excellence of your domains, ensuring reliability, observability, and a high SLA.
• Clearly explain the nuances of system design and front-end paradigms to engineers and stakeholders alike.

You will join the Studio Core front-end team, a group of talented, passionate and highly collaborative engineers who own the foundations of the Clear Street Studio experience. React, TypeScript, Next.js, Module Federation, Nx, Node.js, Kubernetes, and Cloud (AWS or Azure).

What We’re Looking For

• At least six (6) years of professional experience implementing scalable web applications with React and TypeScript.
• Experience contributing to systems that solve complex business problems and handle massive amounts of data; you are drawn towards scale, distributed systems, and associated technologies.
• A strong command of design patterns, data structures, and algorithms.
• The ability to clearly explain the nuances of system design and paradigms to engineers and stakeholders.
• A track record of prioritizing end-user experience, reflected in your API design, functionality, and performance.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor team members, define engineering standards, and drive a system- design approach to building new services.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a consistent focus on delivering high-quality products.
• Pride in the quality of your work and a high standard for what you ship.

Nice to Have

• Experience leading front-end architecture for large-scale or data-intensive applications.
• Deep experience with monorepo tooling (Nx, Turborepo) and micro-frontend architectures such as Module Federation.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms (AWS or Azure).
• Experience in financial services, capital markets, or trading platforms.
