Senior Software Engineer (Front End or Full Stack) - Equities Tech – VP London

Department Overview:

Citi are undertaking a multi-year initiative to upgrade their structured products front-to-back infrastructure. The IT team is a key partner to the business and is a major contributor to its success and future growth.

To support the structured products business growth plan, additional funding is being invested in technology and a number of new and exciting green field projects have been initiated. In line with this initiative, the Global Equities Technology Department are currently looking to hire an experienced Developer in London (WeWork Office) to become a key member of the Global Structured Products platform team.

Role Overview: We are looking for a dev lead to work on a number of green field services within the structured products world. They will be instrumental in setting and ensuring best code practices and designing well crafted software. The team work in an agile manner, self-organise their work with BAs, QA, speaking directly with business users across the globe and have good autonomy over technology decisions. They own the continuous delivery pipeline through to production and strive to release frequently into production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop software iteratively, from an idea through to production.
  • Collaborate and Lead with the rest of the team, pairing where appropriate.
  • Build strong relationships with business users through understanding the challenges that they face, then design and build systems that will allow them to overcome them.
  • Produce clean efficient code based on the specifications.
  • Strive to improve and share best engineering practice across the wider technology team.

Technology Skills Desired:

  • For the right applicant this position can be a Full Stack or Frontend role.
  • Frontend: React and Typescript- experience with hooks and ES6 would be preferred . Some applications also use graphql.
  • Backend: The new platform is being built out using Kotlin in a micro service based architecture and is deployed within Kubernetes/Openshift containers. Kafka is used as the core messaging layer. graphql server
  • Best practices around DevOps techniques are expected to be utilised with real-time monitoring and metrics part of the key deliverables/best practice.
  • The team also push for fully automated testing, continuous integration and trunk based development and would want the developer to have experience of working in such an environment
  • Experience with TDD, BDD and agile practices would be ideal - Note: we are agile with our agile!

Education:

  • University degree or equivalent experience in a similar role
