What will I be doing:

The Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) team specialises in developing advanced technologies for monitoring, analysing, and storing network traffic on high-bandwidth networks. The team is responsible for building robust software solutions that enable real-time traffic inspection and data storage for forensic analysis. Leveraging expertise in network architecture and packet-level data processing, the team creates sophisticated traffic analyzers that ensure visibility into network activities, detect anomalies, and support other parts of Darktrace’s software in threat detection.

In this role, you will work on core software modules written in C++, collaborating with various technologies and applications. Your responsibilities include:

  1. Working with small, task-oriented teams, complemented by experienced members.
  2. Demonstrating adaptability by taking on projects independently, fostering innovation, and cultivating new ideas.
  3. Prioritizing tasks effectively to drive progress on broader initiatives while managing immediate challenges.

This role offers a hybrid setup, with a minimum requirement of two days per week in our Cambridge office.

What experience do I need:

We seek candidates with a solution-focused mindset and an analytical approach to problem-solving. During the interview, you will demonstrate your programming skills in C++ and your understanding of writing production code. Familiarity with Linux environments, Docker, containers, networking, and domain knowledge is also important. Additionally, you are likely to be:

  1. Comfortable working autonomously and making independent decisions, as well as collaborating within a team.
  2. Interested or experienced in cyber-security and malware forensics.
  3. Experienced in statistical analysis of static or dynamic systems.
  4. Knowledgeable about cloud computing environments (beneficial but not mandatory).

Benefits we offer:

  • 23 days’ holiday plus public holidays, increasing to 25 days after 2 years of service.
  • An additional day off for your birthday.
  • Private medical insurance covering you, your cohabiting partner, and children.
  • Life insurance of four times your base salary.
  • Salary sacrifice pension scheme.
  • Enhanced family leave.
  • Confidential Employee Assistance Program.
