We’re looking for someone with a blend of technical expertise, a passion for efficiency, and the creativity to solve complex problems. Candidates should possess an entrepreneurial mindset and the strategic vision necessary to identify and deploy the most effective solutions, ensuring our engineering teams can operate at peak performance.

Who we are:

Optiver is a tech-driven trading firm and leading global market maker. As one of the oldest market making institutions, we are a trusted partner of 70+ exchanges across the globe. Our mission is to constantly improve the market by injecting liquidity, providing accurate pricing, increasing transparency and acting as a stabilising force no matter the market conditions. With a focus on continuous improvement, we participate in the safeguarding of healthy and efficient markets for everyone who participates.

As one of the world’s major financial centres, London was selected as the home of Optiver’s FX trading business, our UK-focused Institutional Trading Team and rapidly growing commodities trading arm. Optiver UK is located in a city that bridges European, Asian and American time zones, connecting our regional offices and embracing a truly global mind-set. London is one of the most diverse cities in the world, and is home to some of the best museums, a thriving international restaurant scene and bustling high streets that attract people from all over the globe.

What you’ll do:

  • Work closely with development teams across the company, identifying bottlenecks and challenges in the current development processes and designing innovative solutions to address them;
  • Develop and implement tools and automation strategies that streamline development workflows, enhance code quality, and reduce time to deployment. This includes:
  • Automating repetitive tasks and processes;
  • Enhancing our continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines;
  • Stay informed on and leverage industry best practices and emerging trends, ensuring that our development tools and processes are continuously improving and aligned with current standards;
  • Engage in a continuous feedback loop with developers, gathering insights and understanding their needs to tailor solutions that maximize productivity and satisfaction;
  • Explore and integrate artificial intelligence technologies to enhance our development workflows;
  • Given the critical impact of this team's work on the company, your contributions will significantly enhance every developer's daily experience, driving widespread improvements.

Who you are:

  • Equipped with strong engineering fundamentals and a deep understanding of software development processes and challenges;
  • Experienced in designing, building, and maintaining tools and systems that enhance developer workflows with proficiency in technologies relevant to automation and tool development (e.g. Python, Jenkins, Git);
  • Experience writing software in C#, C++, C and Python with a proven ability to deliver scalable, reliable, high-quality clean code;
  • A proponent of best practices with a knack for identifying areas of improvement and championing changes to address them;
  • A deep understanding of the end-to-end lifecycle of software development from ideation to deployment;
  • Enthusiastic about learning and applying new technologies and methodologies to solve problems creatively and efficiently;
  • Demonstrate big-picture vision paired with a practical approach to addressing real-world challenges;
  • Able to work autonomously as well as collaborate with developers and other technical teams to solve complex technological initiatives;
  • Passionate about improving the developer experience, with a track record of initiating and successfully driving improvements within a software development context.

What you’ll get:

At Optiver UK, you will be part of a well-established and high-performing global firm whilst experiencing the excitement that comes from a growing operation.
