Job summary

Peopleworks is seeking a Software Engineer, Backend – Java – Identity IAM, on a contract basis until 31 December 2026 (renewable), £600 per day inside IR35. Location: Essex-based offices (between Brentwood and Basildon), four days a week.

You will design and build high-scale backend services, act as technical lead to uplift the team, ensure platform security and resilience, and strengthen IAM infrastructure through best practices and robust engineering.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of backend experience with Java and Java frameworks.
• Experience in security and identity management (IAM).
• Proficient in DevOps practices including CI/CD and version control.
• Experience with monitoring and logging of backend services.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases and server-side technologies.
• Agile work experience.

The banking and finance arm of one of the world’s leading manufacturing companies and a household name is seeking a software engineer, software developer with Backend, Back End and Identity Access Management (IAM) expertise. The Backend Software Engineer will join the Identity Management Services team, (IAM) focusing on the core platform work that powers identity infrastructure.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities:

• Design and build high-scale backend services
• Serve as a technical lead to upskill the team in modern, industry-leading application development.
• Ensure the platform is secure and resilient
• Leverage expertise to elevate the team's technical standards and foster a culture of excellence in backend engineering.

Essential Skill and Experience:

• 8+ years working with backend technologies including Java, Java Frameworks
• Web development - DevOps practices (CI/CD, version control)
• Security and identity management (IAM)
