Canonical is building a comprehensive automation suite to provide multi-cloud and on-premise data solutions for the enterprise. The data platform team develops a range of data stores and technologies, including big data, NoSQL, cache-layer capabilities, and analytics, as well as structured SQL engines.

The OpenSearch team focuses on creating enterprise automation solutions for search and analytics platforms like OpenSearch and Elasticsearch.

Location: This is a globally remote role.

What your day will look like

The OpenSearch team automates OpenSearch operations, including fault-tolerant replication, TLS, installation, and more. The role involves creating and automating features of data platforms, not analyzing the data itself.

• Collaborate with an international team
• Write high-quality Python code to develop new features
• Debug issues and engage with upstream communities
• Work with talented engineers across various fields
• Work remotely with occasional travel (2-4 weeks per year)

What we are looking for in you

• Hands-on experience in Python software development
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related fields
• Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year

Additional skills that you might also bring

Experience in:

• Managing search and analytics engines like Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, OpenSearch
