Job description

Software Engineer (Creative Digital - Unreal / Python)

Hybrid, working from office in Glasgow City

Overview

FPSG seek a passionate Software Engineer to support digital productions and develop associated tooling solutions. This role requires a strong computer science foundation to build and maintain bespoke software solutions. Ideally, candidates will have exposure to the digital creative arts and/or digital/video artists.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Proactively develop new features and enhancements for existing tools and systems.
  2. Own problem solving, from diagnosis through to resolution.
  3. Work with production and development colleagues to maximise systems availability.
  4. Provide bug fixing and enhancement coding across Maya and Unreal Engine tools.
  5. Take ownership of the setup and usage of version control software Perforce.
  6. Seek opportunities to introduce automation solutions.
  7. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand needs and deliver effective technical solutions.
  8. Continuously improve existing codebases to ensure performance and reliability.
  9. Support documentation and knowledge sharing, promoting best practices.

Required Experience and Qualifications:

  1. Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  2. Strong proficiency in Python coding.
  3. Familiarity with Unreal Engine, blueprints, UE C++, Maya, Adobe, FastAPI, and related technologies.
  4. Strong working knowledge of version control/source code management software such as GIT or Perforce.
  5. Proven track record in debugging, troubleshooting, and resolving complex software issues.
  6. Experience with Agile practices, including Test Driven Development (TDD), and understanding of SOLID principles.
  7. Exposure to automation tools and methodologies.

Additional Notes:

  • Flexibility in hybrid working arrangements; candidates should be within easy commuting distance of Glasgow city.
  • Currently, the client does not offer visa sponsorship.
