Job Description: Software Engineer (Cloud Computing), London

Snap Inc. is a technology company dedicated to enhancing communication and human progress through innovative camera products. Our core products include a visual messaging app, an augmented reality platform, and AR glasses. Snap Lab focuses on hardware development, pushing the boundaries of camera technology, including our next-generation Spectacles.

We are seeking a Backend Engineer to join Snap Inc.!

What you’ll do:

1. Design, implement, and operate critical and scalable services.
2. Collaborate across teams to understand product requirements, evaluate trade-offs, and deliver innovative solutions.
3. Test and debug your work to ensure high quality.
4. Advocate for best practices in availability, scalability, operational excellence, and cost management.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Experience with backend services or distributed systems.
• Proven track record of operating highly-available systems at scale.
• Ability to independently complete medium-sized features over a few weeks.
• Understanding of operational aspects, including incident investigation and resolution.
• Strong collaboration skills.
• Experience with cloud computing, storage systems, infrastructure, system design, security, networking, and data storage.

Minimum Qualifications:

• BS/BA in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of software development experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with PostgreSQL, S3-like object stores, Vector databases, and NoSQL solutions.
