Job summary

Ocho People is seeking a Software Engineer for Cloud & AI Security in a hybrid, globally distributed team. You will design and build backend systems powering real-time detection and response, shaping architecture and data models to support scalable security insights.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of backend engineering experience with modern languages (Go/Java/Python/Node.js).
• Hands-on cloud platform experience (AWS, GCP or Azure).
• Experience building data-intensive, scalable systems and CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with microservices architecture and production-grade design.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS/Software Engineering or related field.

Responsibilities

• Own full backend lifecycle from design to production monitoring.
• Shape architecture and data models for scalable real-time systems.
• Lead code reviews to improve team quality and velocity.

The Role

Security is racing to keep pace with AI, and this business is building the intelligence layer that lets it catch up. As a Software Engineer on the Backend team, you will help design and build the systems that turn raw cloud signal into real-time action, correlating runtime data, posture and identity into a single live map of risk. It is early enough in the company's journey that your decisions on architecture, data models and scalability will genuinely shape the product, not just implement someone else's.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the full lifecycle of your projects, from initial design through to production monitoring and maintenance
• Shape technical and architectural decisions as the platform scales
• Run design and code reviews that raise the bar for the whole team
• Improve the efficiency, scalability and stability of backend components handling real-time security data
• Work closely with Frontend and DevOps to deliver features customers rely on to catch real threats

What You'll Need

Essential:

• 6+ years' experience in backend engineering using a high-level language such as Go, Java, C#, Python or Node.js
• Experience with cloud platforms and products (AWS, GCP or Azure)
• Experience implementing data-intensive systems (databases, event systems, messaging systems)
• Experience with continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD)
• Experience with microservices-based architecture
• BSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field

Desirable / Nice to Have:

• Exposure to Kubernetes, Docker, Neo4j, ElasticSearch, Redis, TimescaleDB or RabbitMQ
• A genuine interest in cloud security and how attackers think
