Job summary

DWP Digital’s Software Engineer team is seeking experienced Java Engineers to shape public digital services. You will develop and maintain software products as part of multi-functional agile delivery teams, using AWS, Kubernetes, Java, Python, and CI/CD pipelines.

You will collaborate with architects to design APIs, monitor system health, and drive quality through automated tests and best practices. The role emphasizes problem-solving and delivering meaningful technology for public services with

Qualifications

Proven experience as a Software Engineer with Java.
Experience building and running citizen/user-facing services.
Comfort working in multi-functional Agile delivery teams.

Responsibilities

Ensure operational stability of products and contribute to robustness and resilience.
Design and build software in collaboration with architects and engineers.
Develop and consume APIs with an API-first approach.
Monitor system health and reliability, and improve test coverage.
Participate in Agile ceremonies and share ideas for improvement.
Promote best practices to deliver quality software products.
Contribute to reusable libraries and services architectures.
Provide technical leadership and guidance within software engineering teams.
