Job summary

Barclays in Glasgow is hiring a Software Engineer in the AI Practice to design, develop and scale agentic software engineering capabilities across the organisation. You will collaborate with engineering teams to prototype solutions and adopt emerging technologies.

The role emphasizes secure coding, effective unit testing and modern SDLC practices, with a strong focus on performance and quality. This is a hands-on position for engineers who can write clearly and share knowledge across teams.

Qualifications

• Experience with agentic software engineering harnesses and the surrounding ecosystem – MCPs, skills, etc.
• Significant experience with at least one major programming language.
• Understanding of modern Enterprise SDLC toolchains – familiarity with artifact repositories, scanning complexes, build tools and pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
• Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
