Job summary

Lloyds Banking Group is seeking a Software Engineer for Threat Intelligence Platforms to build Python services and integrations that turn intelligence into action. You will work across security tooling, data sources and automation to enable analysts to make faster decisions.

You’ll deploy in Kubernetes environments, collaborate with analysts and engineers, and contribute to CI/CD pipelines. A strong grounding in AI-enabled workflow improvements will be beneficial for this role.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience developing software in Python.
  • Experience with Linux environments and Bash scripting.
  • Good understanding of DevOps and continuous delivery practices.
  • Experience with Kubernetes and container-based deployments.
  • Experience building APIs and system integrations.
  • Solid understanding of Agile delivery methods.
  • Ability to work independently on technical challenges.
  • Interest in learning and applying AI-driven solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Build clean, maintainable Python applications and services.
  • Design and develop integrations between platforms to automate workflows.
  • Collaborate with engineers, analysts and stakeholders to extract requirements.
  • Support CI/CD pipelines for reliable software delivery.

JOB TITLE: Software Engineer (Threat Intelligence Platforms)
SALARY: £47,120 - £58,900
LOCATION: Edinburgh, Bristol or Manchester
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at our office location.
About This Opportunity

Our Threat Intelligence Engineering team builds and maintains the platforms, integrations and automation that help turn intelligence into action. We work across a range of security and intelligence tooling, connecting data sources, automating workflows and developing services that enable analysts and security teams to make better decisions, faster.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Building clean, maintainable and well-tested Python applications, services and integrations.
  • Designing and developing integrations between internal and external platforms to automate security and intelligence workflows.
  • Working closely with engineers, analysts and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver practical solutions.
  • Supporting and improving CI/CD pipelines to enable reliable and efficient software delivery.
  • Deploying, operating and troubleshooting applications running in containerised and Kubernetes-based environments.
  • Participating in code reviews and contributing to engineering standards, best practices and ways of working.
  • Investigating incidents, resolving defects and identifying opportunities to improve resilience, security and performance.
  • Helping shape technical designs while balancing scalability, maintainability and delivery timelines.
  • Monitoring live services, identifying issues and proactively driving improvements.
  • Continuously developing your technical skills and staying current with emerging technologies and industry trends.
  • Designing and developing solutions that make effective use of AI capabilities to automate processes, enrich data and improve operational decision-making.

What You’ll Need
  • Strong experience developing software in Python.
  • Experience working with Linux environments and scripting using Bash.
  • Good understanding of DevOps principles and modern software engineering practices.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools and deployment pipelines.
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes and container-based application deployment.
  • Experience building and supporting APIs, services or system integrations.
  • A solid understanding of software testing, debugging and troubleshooting.
  • Experience working within Agile delivery teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently on technical challenges.
  • A genuine interest in learning, improving and staying current with technology trends.
  • Understanding of AI concepts and technologies, with the ability to identify and implement practical AI-driven solutions within software applications and workflows.
And any of these would be great:
  • Experience working within a Threat Intelligence, Cyber Security or Security Operations environment
  • Understanding of threat intelligence concepts, data sources and intelligence workflows.
  • Experience integrating with third-party security or intelligence platforms.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms and infrastructure-as-code approaches.
  • Experience with event-driven architectures and distributed systems.
  • Familiarity with monitoring, observability and operational support practices.
  • Understanding of AI technologies and how they can be applied to automate workflows, improve data quality and enhance intelligence-driven decision making.
