Job summary

Hargreaves Lansdown is seeking two Software Engineers to join our Technical Excellence team in Bristol. You will help build, enhance and support AI-enabled tooling and automation powering our engineering platform, enabling teams to deliver software more efficiently.

You will write high quality code, collaborate across the product team, and maintain secure coding practices. The role is permanent, hybrid, with 2 days in the office weekly, based at Number One Welcome Building, Bristol.

• Able to effectively use version control to manage code.

Responsibilities

• Write high quality code adhering to corporate and regulatory standards, delivered in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with the team to deliver new features for the product team.
• Provide engineering support for existing applications as needed.
• Maintain awareness of secure coding practices and ensure compliant code.
• Review code for conformity with standards.
• Develop and evidence automated tests alongside code produced.
• Document solutions to team standards and comment code thoroughly.
• Learn and adopt new technologies and techniques used by the engineering team.
• Build strong working relationships within the Digital department.
• Participate in schemes to support the product team.
• Develop both technical and interpersonal skills (weighted towards technical).

We are looking for two Software Engineers to join our Technical Excellence team, supporting Hargreaves Lansdown's AI capability maturity and wider Modernisation of Technology (MoT) objectives. In this role, you will help build, enhance, and support AI-enabled tooling and automation that underpin our engineering platform, enabling teams across the organisation to deliver software more efficiently and effectively.

What you will be doing:

• Write high quality code adhering to corporate & regulatory standards, delivered in a timely manner, without supervision
• Work collaboratively with the team to help deliver new features for the product team in line with requirements
• Provide engineering support for existing applications when necessary
• Maintain awareness of current secure coding practices and ensure code produced is in line with these
• Review other developers' code to ensure conformance with established standards
• Develop and evidence automated tests alongside code produced
• Documenting all solutions produced to agreed team standards
• Habitually comment code to high standards
• Willingness to learn and further technologies & techniques embraced by engineering team
• Cultivate strong working relationships within the wider Digital department
• Actively participate in schemes designed to support the product team
• Develop both technical and interpersonal skills (weighted towards technical)

About you:

Working Schedule:

This role is based in Number One, Welcome Building, Bristol, BS2 0TR. This role is permanent, full time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. We have returned to the office 2 days a week.
