We are looking for experienced Full Stack Software Engineers with strong Java expertise to join an established Agile delivery team working on complex software projects for central government customers.
You will help design, develop, test and maintain bespoke software solutions that address challenging operational requirements. The role offers exposure to a broad range of technologies, cloud environments and stages of the software development lifecycle.
You will be assigned a base office in Plymouth, Manchester, Bristol or Cheltenham, while working in a flexible hybrid environment. There is an expectation that you will meet customers regularly, typically every two weeks.
Designing, developing, testing and delivering software solutions.
Working with open-source libraries, frameworks and components.
Creating and maintaining continuous integration pipelines using tools such as GitLab.
Supporting software quality, security and automated testing practices.
Deploying systems across public and private cloud environments, including AWS and Azure.
Contributing across the full software development lifecycle, including:
Requirements analysis and specification.
Architecture and technical design.
Implementation and delivery.
Training and customer support.
Ongoing maintenance and lifecycle management.
Working collaboratively within an Agile team.
Taking technical leadership responsibility and supporting client engagement, depending on experience.
Commercial experience developing software with Java.
Experience working across the full stack.
Familiarity with cloud technologies, particularly AWS and Azure.
Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
An understanding of software quality, testing, security and continuous integration.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with customers and delivery teams.
Previous consultancy experience is beneficial but not essential.
Due to the nature of the projects, successful applicants must be eligible to obtain UK security clearance.
Applicants must be British citizens or hold a British passport and have lived continuously in the UK for the past five years. Eligibility will be assessed as part of the recruitment process, and clearance requirements may vary depending on the project.
