Job description

Ascenti Digital | Remote with occasional travel | Permanent | Full-Time

Build technology that helps people live fuller lives.

At Ascenti Group, technology plays a vital role in improving healthcare experiences for thousands of people across the UK.

As the UK's leading provider of physiotherapy, mental health and government assessment services, we are investing in the future of our digital products and are looking for an experienced Full-Stack Software Engineer to help shape that journey.

If you are passionate about building modern applications, enjoy solving complex technical challenges and want to work on products that make a genuine difference, we would love to hear from you.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Ascenti Digital, the team responsible for designing, building and supporting the technology that powers our organisation.

Working closely with our Head of Engineering, CTO and fellow Software Engineers, you will play a key role in developing scalable, high-quality applications across our growing product portfolio.

This is more than a development role. You will have the opportunity to influence technical direction, contribute to software architecture, mentor colleagues and help shape engineering best practice across the business.

Whether you are improving existing platforms or building entirely new digital products, your work will directly support colleagues, clinicians and patients across the UK.

What you will be doing
  • Designing, developing and maintaining modern full-stack applications using React, TypeScript and related technologies.
  • Taking technical ownership of features and helping shape future software architecture.
  • Building intuitive, responsive user interfaces with a strong focus on user experience.
  • Working across both front-end and back-end systems to deliver robust, scalable solutions.
  • Collaborating closely with Product, Digital and Business stakeholders to turn ideas into working software.
  • Improving code quality through testing, peer reviews and engineering best practices.
  • Mentoring junior engineers and helping develop a collaborative engineering culture.
  • Contributing to Agile ways of working and continuous improvement across the Digital function.
  • Supporting innovation by exploring new technologies, including AI-assisted development tools.
What we are looking for

We are looking for something who combines strong technical expertise with curiosity, collaboration and a passion for continuous improvement.

You will ideally bring experience in:

  • React, TypeScript and JavaScript.
  • Next.js and modern front-end development.
  • React Native mobile application development.
  • State management solutions such as Redux or RTK Query.
  • CSS and Tailwind CSS.
  • Relational databases and full-stack application development.
  • Unit and integration testing.
  • Git and Azure DevOps.
  • Modern CI/CD practices.

It would also be advantageous if you have experience with:

  • Azure cloud technologies.
  • Node.js frameworks such as Fastify or Express.
  • Infrastructure as Code and DevOps practices.
  • AI coding assistants such as Claude Code or similar.
Why join Ascenti?

This is an opportunity to join a growing Digital team where your ideas will genuinely influence the products we build and the technology we invest in.

In return, you will benefit from:
  • A remote-first role with occasional travel as required.
  • The opportunity to work with modern technologies across multiple digital products.
  • The chance to influence architecture and technical direction.
  • A collaborative environment where learning and innovation are encouraged.
  • The opportunity to mentor others and continue developing your own career.
  • Working on technology that has a real impact on people's lives.

If you are looking for your next challenge and want to help build digital products that support better healthcare across the UK, we would love to hear from you.
