Job description

The Team: Our Real-Time Data team is part of our Technology division, delivering market data for millions of traded instruments across various asset classes worldwide. We provide this data internally to Morningstar products and externally to clients, supporting fast, reliable market information in multiple formats and intervals.

The Role: Morningstar Real-Time Data is seeking a software engineer to join our London-based technology team. As part of a global team, you will develop capabilities for our real-time systems, delivering business-critical data to a global portfolio of clients. This role offers the opportunity to apply your skills across a range of technical activities and gain experience from projects and the global team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in the full software development lifecycle, including specification, design, and development, demonstrating initiative to create reliable and robust software solutions.

This position, based in London, allows the successful candidate to be part of a global team where quality and service are priorities, supporting a portfolio of real-time data products and services.

Responsibilities

1. Manage development projects through the entire project lifecycle.
2. Integrate data feeds into our ticker plant.
3. Participate in full software lifecycle development.
4. Develop value-added software solutions.

Requirements

• This is a 1-year contractor role, with potential extension to 2 years.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a technical discipline with strong academic credentials.
• Minimum of 3 years' commercial experience in C/C++ development.
• Strong knowledge of STL and Boost libraries.
• Familiarity with communication protocols (TCP, UDP, multicast, etc.).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Experience with real-time data feeds and financial information is desirable.
• Experience developing on Windows platforms is a plus.
