About Fleet Assist

Fleet Assist are the UK’s leading supply chain management specialist of service, maintenance and repair services to over 1.3million vehicles across leasing, rental, salary sacrifice and vehicle subscription businesses. Our fully managed SMR network in excess of 5,200 garages and over 500 mobile service units is the largest of its kind in the UK.

The Role

We’re looking for a Software Engineer who thrives on solving problems and loves working with technology at every level of the stack. You’re the kind of person who’s naturally curious, always asking “why,” and constantly looking for better ways to build, test, and deliver software.

This role offers the chance to work on a variety of interesting technical challenges—from greenfield development to improving and scaling existing systems within the UK automotive sector. You’ll work across backend and frontend code, collaborate with internal stakeholders, and help manage the cloud infrastructure that keeps everything running.

You won’t just be writing features—you’ll be shaping how we build and ship quality software in a fast-moving, cloud-first environment. It’s a great opportunity for someone who wants to grow technically and make a real impact on products that matter.

What you’ll work on

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality C# applications and APIs
  • Enhancing and troubleshooting existing systems to ensure performance and reliability
  • Building intuitive front-end features using a modern JavaScript framework (e.g., React)
  • Writing robust unit tests and participating in code reviews
  • Managing infrastructure in Azure, with opportunities to work with Terraform
  • Collaborating with product owners, business analysts, and support teams to deliver value
  • Working with relational databases (SQL) and integrating with third-party APIs

What you’ll bring

  • Practical experience working on real-world software projects, with the confidence to take ownership of tasks and a strong desire to take on more responsibility
  • Proficiency in C# and solid working knowledge of SQL
  • Experience with at least one modern front-end framework (React preferred)
  • Comfort writing unit tests (e.g., NUnit or xUnit) and working with RESTful APIs
  • A solid understanding of software development principles and a genuine passion for learning and improving
  • A collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently
  • Bonus points for experience with:
  • Microsoft Azure
  • Terraform
  • React and TypeScript

Why You’ll Love Working Here

  • Innovative Projects: Work on cutting-edge projects that challenge and excite you.
  • Collaborative Environment: Be part of a supportive team where your ideas and expertise are valued.
  • Professional Growth: We are committed to your continuous improvement, offering opportunities for training and career advancement.
  • Work-Life Balance: Enjoy a healthy work-life balance with hybrid working arrangements.
  • Hybrid work: Flexibility to work from home and our Huntingdon office

Perks and Benefits

  • Competitive Salary
  • Option to increase annual leave through an annual leave purchase scheme
  • Private healthcare, gym discounts, and more
  • EAP
  • Death in Service Insurance
  • Training and development opportunities
