Job summary

TREND Networks Ltd in High Wycombe is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join our Design & Development team, helping to develop the next generation of handheld test equipment and cloud-connected software solutions.

You will work across embedded Linux, C++, Qt and Microsoft Azure, contributing to a full software lifecycle from design to deployment and ongoing product enhancements. This role is based at our High Wycombe office (4 days per week in the office).

Qualifications

  • Commercial software development experience using C and C++.
  • Strong experience with Qt UI development.
  • Linux/Embedded Linux development experience.
  • Experience cloud-connected products or services.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure and cloud architectures.
  • Experience using Git, GitHub, GitLab or Azure DevOps.
  • Knowledge of secure software development practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborative approach with a passion for high-quality software.

Responsibilities

  • Designing and developing C++ applications for Linux-based handheld network test equipment.
  • Creating intuitive user interfaces using Qt Widgets and/or Qt Quick/QML.
  • Developing cloud-connected functionality supporting the AnyWARE Cloud platform.
  • Designing and developing services hosted within Microsoft Azure.
  • Implementing REST API integrations between products and cloud services.
  • Applying secure software development and cybersecurity-by-design principles.
  • Contributing to software architecture, code reviews and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Working with Git-based source control, CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.

We're looking for an experienced Software Engineer to join our Design & Development team, helping to develop the next generation of handheld test equipment and cloud-connected software solutions.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with modern technologies across embedded Linux, C++, Qt and Microsoft Azure, developing products that are used globally.

What you'll be doing

As part of our collaborative engineering team, you'll be involved in the full software development lifecycle, from design and development through to testing, deployment and ongoing product enhancement.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and developing C++ applications for Linux-based handheld network test equipment.
  • Creating intuitive user interfaces using Qt (Widgets and/or Qt Quick/QML).
  • Developing cloud-connected functionality supporting our AnyWARE Cloud platform.
  • Designing and developing services hosted within Microsoft Azure.
  • Implementing REST API integrations between products and cloud services.
  • Applying secure software development and cybersecurity-by-design principles.
  • Supporting compliance with the RED Cybersecurity requirements and Cyber Resilience Act (CRA).
  • Contributing to software architecture, code reviews and continuous improvement.
  • Working with Git-based source control, CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
What we're looking for
  • Commercial software development experience using C and C++.
  • Strong experience developing applications with Qt.
  • Linux or Embedded Linux development experience.
  • Experience developing cloud-connected products or services.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure and cloud-based architectures.
  • Experience using Git, GitHub, GitLab or Azure DevOps.
  • Knowledge of secure software development practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • A collaborative approach with a passion for developing high-quality software.
Desirable Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:
  • React or Node.js
  • Qt Quick / QML
  • SaaS and cloud-hosted applications
  • Networking technologies including Ethernet, Wi-Fi, VLAN, IP, ARP, LLDP, SNMP and MIBs
  • Network testing and measurement products
