Job summary

Axle Energy Limited is seeking Software Engineers to build the core infrastructure that connects to distributed energy devices and orchestrates them for participation in electricity markets. This generalist role spans product engineering, devops, and data engineering.

You’ll own problems end-to-end, talk to clients and users, and collaborate with market operators in a flat, fast-moving team. Hybrid work with a dog-friendly office in Farringdon.

About the role

Software Engineers at Axle build the core infrastructure for connecting to distributed energy devices, orchestrating them, and allowing them to participate in electricity markets.

This is a generalist Software Engineering role, encompassing product-engineering, devops, and data engineering. We encourage engineers to own as much of the problem-space as they can: you’ll spend time talking to clients, getting feedback from users, and working closely with market operators.

At Axle, we work in a deliberately flat structure. That means fewer layers, faster decisions, and more ownership for everyone.

Tech stack

We build in Python + React for the frontend

Everything we build lives in Docker, for minimal cross-platform faff and maximal reproducibility.
Unlimited Claude Code tokens - we are aggressive users and explorers of AI, and encourage everybody to reconsider their workflows regularly
