Job summary

Imperial College London is seeking a Software Engineer to help shape the UI/UX of Lambda Feedback, a platform supporting thousands of students with automated formative feedback. You will design and improve user interfaces while collaborating with teaching staff and stakeholders across a world-leading university.

Responsibilities

Job description

We are seeking a Software Engineer to join the team developing Lambda Feedback, an innovative software platform created at Imperial College London to support independent study through automated formative feedback. S upport ing thousands of students and deliver ing feedback millions of times per year, the platform is now expanding beyond Imperial to the wider higher education sector. In this exciting role, you will help shape the user experience by designing and improving the user interface and experience (UI/UX) .

What you would be doing

You will:

  • Develop,testand deployuser interface (UI)improvements, using React.js andTypescript, with continuous integration and continuous improvement (CI/CD)
  • Collaborate with teaching staff,studentsand other stakeholders to gather feedback and continuously enhance the software.
  • Contribute to the future direction of the product by sharing creative ideas, advising on developmentprioritiesand working collaboratively to deliver project milestones.
  • Produce clear technical documentation,collaborate with the development team, and support the user community
What we are looking for

You should have:

  • Experience developing modern webinterfaces that users love
  • A strong understanding of software engineering principles andproficiencyin at least two programming languages, including preferably using React.js
  • Strong problem-solving skills, a creative approach to software development, and a commitment to delivering high-quality,secureand accessible solutions.

It would also be beneficial if you have:

  • Experience gathering user stories and translating them into software requirements.
  • Experience working within Agile development environments and a DevOps culture.
  • Knowledge of TypeScript, CI/CDpracticesand project management methodologies.
  • Experience working in higher education or within a small, fast-paced startup environment whereyou'vetaken on a broad range of responsibilities.
  • A constant desire to learn and improve, especially with emerging uses of AI

This position is fixedterm andis expected to run until31 st July 2027.

Hybrid working may be considered for this role. Staff working in roles that are suitable for hybrid working will normally be expected to work 60% of their time onsite. The opportunity for hybrid working will be discussed at interview.
